Dedicated Function Fire Alarm System - What/When/Why?
There is often times confusion about this type of system, as to when these are required and what purpose it serves. This class provides some clarification, and maybe more importantly is what a Dedicated Function Fire Alarm System is NOT.

Tim Knisely is the Training Manager for the Automatic Fire Alarm Association. In this role he is responsible to plan and coordinate all training programs that are offered by the Association, both classroom and on-line offerings.
Prior to joining AFAA, Tim spent 23 years as an AHJ with the Centre Region Council of Governments in State College, PA. There he supervised the plan review and inspection of life safety systems in new and existing buildings. He also managed the fire safety inspections of commercial and high-rise properties and the organization’s fire prevention programs.
Tim has developed and presented training programs for state and national organizations for more than 20 years; with topics that include fire prevention, false alarm reduction, fire protection system plan review and inspection techniques. He co-chaired the Pennsylvania Residential Sprinkler Coalition during the ICC adoption process. Tim recently stepped away from service as a volunteer firefighter after 40 years; half of those as a fire chief, assistant chief and fire marshal.
