The air maintenance device is used to control the supervisory air pressure in a dry pipe sprinkler system (and similar type systems). Additionally, it is used in applications that have a nitrogen source at a higher pressure than the desired system pressure. The integrated regulator maintains a constant pressure. The metering orifice limits the volume of air introduced into the sprinkler piping to assure that the rate of air replacement is less than that from a discharging sprinkler so that system activation may take place.
